The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a goalless draw by the Wasps of Rwanda in Kigali after both teams played to a full-time stalemate.
The intense first half ended with the home side controlling 54% of the possession, compared to the Eagles’ 46%. Rwanda had more goal attempts, striking 12 times compared to Nigeria’s 9. It wasn’t a happy half for the Nigerians, as Ademola Lookman’s strike was ruled offside.
Just a minute into the second half, Austin Eguavoen introduced Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon for Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze. However, with no goals forthcoming, Eguavoen made a double substitution in the 70th minute, bringing in Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika for Wilfred Ndidi and Dele Bashiru.
Nigeria remains at the top of their group after two games in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. The Eagles now shift their focus to Libya for a doubleheader scheduled for October 11th and 15th.
