AFCON 2025Q: Eagles Hold Closed Door Training As Mediterranean Knights of Libya Arrive Nigeria Ahead of Friday’s Clash

Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Libya scheduled for Friday October 11, Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen is holding training seasons with the invited players at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

It was gathered that the trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidera Ejuke and Bright Osayi-Samuel joined their teammates in camp on Wednesday October 9.

Twenty players were at the team’s Four Points by Sheraton Hotel camp on Tuesday.

The new arrivals will be part of the team’s training session later on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, the media and members of the public have been barred from the Super Eagles training session today.

The session will hold at the practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

In the same vain, the Mediterranean Knights of Libya have arrived Nigeria ahead of Friday’s AFCON 2025 qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Uyo.

In a video posted on X, the Libyan players were pictured on arrival at the Murtala International Airport in Lagos.

From the Lagos airport they will connect a flight to Uyo, venue for the matchday 3 tie.

This is the second time Libya will be slugging it out against the Super Eagles in the AFCON qualifiers.

Both teams were housed in the same group during the qualifiers for the 2019 AFCON hekd in Egypt.

In the first leg in Uyo, the Eagles won 4-0 and won the return leg 3-2.

Libya’s only victory against the Eagles was in the 2004 LG invitational tournament, recording a 2-1 win.
