Adieu, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago (April 5, 1963 – March 4, 2026)

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the transition to glory of Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago—a distinguished scholar, a visionary leader, and the foundational editor of one of our journals, the African Journal of Accountancy, Banking and Intellectual Capital (AJABIC). Professor Dandago departed this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, leaving a void that is very deeply felt within his family, his students, and the global academic community.

As the Editor-in-Chief of AJABIC, Professor Dandago was far more than a leader; he was the journal’s guiding light. Under his leadership, the publication emerged as a vital platform for rigorous research on Accountancy, Finance, Taxation, Banking and Intellectual Capital across the continent. His uncompromising commitment to academic excellence and his meticulous editorial eye ensured the journal is associated with the highest standards. Professor Dandago also published two important books with us – Advanced Accountancy: Theory and Practice (2009) and Time Management in the Life of a Scholar (2015).

On a deeply personal note, I will forever cherish the moving goodwill message he shared via Zoom at my inaugural lecture at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria, on October 30th 2024—a testament to his enduring friendship and support.

Beyond his editorial and authorial achievements, Professor Dandago was a cultivator of minds and spirits. He served with immense distinction at Bayero University, Kano, and brought his vast expertise to the public sector when he served as the Commissioner for Finance in Kano State between June 2015 and October 2018. His legacy is etched in the success of the many PhD and MSc students he mentored, many of whom now stand as leaders in academia and industry.

Professor Dandago was a man of rare integrity, humility, and an unwavering passion for knowledge. Though he is no longer with us, his “symphony of service” continues to resonate through the pages of his books and the journal he so dearly loved.

May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and provide strength to those he left behind.
