ADC Halts Presidential Primary Collation for Sallah

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended the collation of results from its presidential primary election until after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Chairman of the party’s Presidential Primary Election Committee, Chief Ikechi Emenike, announced the development late Tuesday, explaining that the postponement was aimed at allowing Muslim members of the party to fully observe the Sallah festivities.

According to him, the collation exercise for the outstanding states will now resume by 8 p.m. today, noting that several returning officers were unable to arrive in Abuja on schedule due to flight disruptions.

“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters celebrate Sallah participate in the religious activity and to enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive Abuja latter today,” Emenike stated.

Before the suspension, results from 24 states and the FCT had already been received and announced, while results from 12 other states were still being awaited.

States affected by the delay include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa and Kogi.

Others are Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Zamfara and the FCT.
