Adamawa Shuts Down Unity Fly-Over ‘Cross Over Night’ Festivities Over Security Concerns

In a move aimed at keeping residents safe, the Adamawa State government has pulled the plug on the Dec. 31 “Cross Over Night” celebrations at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta, Yola.

Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying the decision was taken with public safety in mind.

“The Adamawa State Government has cancelled all activities planned for the Cross Over Night on Dec. 31, 2025 to Jan. 1, 2026, at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta – Yola.

“The safety and security of citizens remain our top priority. The Government will continue to work with security agencies to ensure peace and stability in the state,” he said.

Wonosikou also appealed to the public, particularly residents of Yola North and South Local Government Areas, to stay alert and avoid crowded spots.

“Avoid any potential risks, and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” he urged.

He added that the government would provide further updates as needed.
