In October of last year, I left Abuja for Lagos for my annual month-long leave, expecting the familiar scenes upon my return to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in November. However, what unfolded before my eyes left me astounded and utterly impressed. The level of transformation in terms of road construction within my axis was nothing short of remarkable. Streets and roads that had remained bare since time immemorial were now meticulously tarred, symbolizing an unprecedented commitment to infrastructural development.
The awe-inspiring changes were not limited to my immediate vicinity. As I traversed the city and from testimonies that have littered the city, it became evident that this ambitious road overhaul was a comprehensive endeavor, with visible construction projects sprawled across the nation’s capital. The pace and scale of this transformation, achieved in less than a month, is a testament to the resolute dedication of the man at the helm – the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
A few days ago, I was at the Federal High Court, Maitama, to file a case and while doing so, I overheard conversations among women praising the Minister for a newly tarred road that leads to their community, previously left neglected since time immemorial. Their prayers for his continued success resonated with my sentiments, and I unreservedly joined them in extending blessings to a leader who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and responsibility.
In a mere few months since assuming office, Minister Nyesom Wike has proven himself as a leader of substance, delivering tangible dividends of democracy through substantial road construction initiatives. His accomplishments are not just praiseworthy; they demand acknowledgment on a global scale. It is time for his achievements to be heralded in newspapers, read aloud for the entire world to witness and, more importantly, for other leaders to emulate.
While one might argue that the Minister is merely fulfilling the duties of his office, his level of responsibility and unwavering commitment exceeds expectations. As someone who has consistently scrutinized government actions, I cannot help but commend Minister Wike for not just doing his job but excelling beyond anticipated outcomes. His track record of delivering on promises is manifesting once again in the FCT.
I extend my heartfelt commendation to Minister Wike for the outstanding work he is undertaking. His efforts have undeniably brought smiles to the faces of countless FCT residents. The visible and audible impacts of his achievements reflect a genuine dedication to public service that transcends mere rhetoric.
I pray that the Almighty God continue to bless Minister Nyesom Wike, strengthen him and endow him with the wisdom needed to sustain and expand these remarkable achievements. His example serves as a stark reminder that leaders occupying positions of power for extended periods, without tangible accomplishments, are not just failing in their duties but are possibly engaging in the misappropriation of public funds.
Nigeria, a nation rich in resources, has the potential for transformative development. Yet, it is disheartening to observe that some in power, whom we can only describe as agents of poverty, choose to line their pockets instead of harnessing these resources for the collective good. Minister Wike’s exemplary leadership provides a glaring call to action, urging leaders nationwide to prioritize public welfare over personal gain, for the greater good of our beloved nation.
