The Presidency has dismissed reports suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extended his working vacation abroad due to health concerns.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, addressed the speculation in a statement shared on his official X account on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Onanuga assured Nigerians that President Tinubu is in good health, stressing that the President’s absence from Nigeria does not prevent him from performing his official duties.

According to the presidential aide, modern technology enables the President to remain actively involved in governance even while outside the country.
He said Tinubu has continued to engage with investors and hold official meetings during his working vacation.
Onanuga also disclosed that the President is expected to return to Nigeria in time for the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
Defending the President’s decision to embark on a working vacation, Onanuga said Tinubu is entitled to take time away from Abuja and does not need to be physically present in the nation’s capital to carry out his responsibilities.
“Nigeria’s President is hale and hearty. He has been on a working vacation which he is perfectly entitled to. In this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023,” he said.
The statement followed reports and speculation surrounding the President’s prolonged stay outside the country, with some claims linking his absence to health concerns.
The Presidency, however, rejected the claims, maintaining that Tinubu remains in good health and continues to discharge his official responsibilities while on his working vacation.
