The National Examinations Council has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, 63 days after candidates sat for the final paper.
The NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the results on Thursday at a press conference in Minna, Niger State.
Wushishi said 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 candidates sat for the exercise, which commenced on June 15 and ended on July 23, 2026.
He disclosed that 1,162,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent of those who sat for the examination, obtained at least five credits, irrespective of their performance in English Language and Mathematics.

The registrar also announced a significant decline in examination malpractice, saying 1,406 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice during the 2026 examination.
The figure represents a 64.74 per cent reduction from the 3,878 cases recorded in 2025.
Wushishi attributed the improvement in examination conduct to enhanced monitoring and the support of security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Department of State Services.
He said the agencies’ vigilance, presence and support during the examination helped reinforce discipline, deter misconduct and protect the integrity of the exercise.
The NECO registrar also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for reappointing him for a second term and thanked the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, for his confidence in his leadership.
Wushishi assured candidates, parents, schools and other stakeholders that the council would continue to strengthen its examination processes and uphold the credibility and integrity of its assessments.
