Heavily armed men suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted the Medical Director of Multicare Hospital in Makurdi, Benue State, Dr Jonah Ogbaji.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9 p.m. when the men stormed the hospital and took the doctor away.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspects arrived at the facility in a Toyota Sienna vehicle and whisked Ogbaji away without identifying themselves.
A daughter of the victim, who requested anonymity, confirmed that the family was yet to establish his whereabouts.
She said some of the hospital workers were unable to identify the men, adding that the suspects claimed to be security operatives.
“We have not really established whether they are kidnappers – the people that came claimed that they are security operatives. Workers were not able to describe them.
“Some said when they asked those people where they were taking the doctor to, they said ‘just here’, so we thought that maybe they took him to the Police Division.

“We have been going round all the police stations in Makurdi but he is not there,” she said.
The circumstances surrounding the doctor’s disappearance remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts to ascertain his whereabouts and confirm the incident with the police were ongoing.
