Three members of a local vigilante group have been killed after gunmen attacked a security post in Gwa Rim community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Local residents said the attack happened at about 02:00 on Wednesday, when the gunmen opened fire on vigilantes guarding the community.
Damba Dang, a resident of Riyom who confirmed the incident, said the attackers struck while the community was asleep.
He said the killings had increased fears among residents, particularly because the vigilantes were helping to protect the community.

Mr Dang called on security agencies to increase their presence in Gwa Rim and other vulnerable communities in the area.
He also urged the authorities to investigate the attack, identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
