A coalition of Muslim scholars and intellectuals from 19 northern Nigerian states has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and endorsed his bid to seek re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The group made its position known during a meeting of the Muslim Intellectuals Forum held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Conference Hall, New Secretariat, Dutse, Jigawa State.
Isah Muhammad Yusuf, an aide to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, disclosed the development in a post on his Facebook page.
According to him, the meeting brought together Islamic scholars and intellectuals from 19 states across Northern Nigeria, who expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and his efforts to address challenges affecting the region, particularly insecurity.
The group also passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and called on Nigerians, especially people in the North, to support the President and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement comes as political parties and various political groups intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
The coalition said it believes that President Tinubu’s leadership and the measures being implemented by his administration will contribute to addressing the challenges confronting Northern Nigeria.
