The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Rivers State Field Office, has called for stronger collaboration with the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) to address waste management and other environmental challenges across the state.
The call was made when officials of NESREA’s Rivers State Field Office visited the headquarters of RIWAMA as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and improve environmental management practices in the state.
During the visit, the NESREA team engaged officials of RIWAMA on the need to enhance waste management practices and promote environmental sustainability.
The discussions focused on areas of mutual cooperation, including effective waste management, environmental protection and compliance with applicable environmental standards and regulations.

NESREA said stronger cooperation between relevant government agencies was essential to tackling environmental challenges and ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for residents of Rivers State.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for both agencies to share perspectives on existing environmental challenges and explore ways of improving coordination in the implementation and enforcement of environmental regulations.
Officials of NESREA and RIWAMA expressed their commitment to sustaining the partnership and working together to advance environmental protection and responsible waste management in the state.
The agencies noted that continued collaboration would enhance efforts to promote environmental compliance, strengthen waste management systems and contribute to the achievement of a cleaner and more sustainable Rivers State.
