Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Davido made the appeal in a post on his Instagram Story, expressing concern over the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process in the state.
The singer urged Trump and the international community to monitor developments surrounding the election and encourage relevant authorities to protect voters and safeguard the integrity of the poll.
“Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” he said.
Davido said he wanted the election to be peaceful, transparent and credible, without violence or intimidation.
He also called on the United States and other members of the international community to closely monitor the exercise and support efforts to protect voters and ensure that every vote counts.
The singer tagged Trump and the official Instagram account of the U.S. president in his post.
