At least six Nigerian soldiers were reportedly killed on Thursday evening after suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched an attack on troops in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the troops came under heavy attack during the assault, although the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Military authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, while efforts are ongoing to ascertain whether any of the insurgents were neutralised.
