Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, engaged in a heated exchange with Channels Television anchor Seun Okinbaloye during a live interview on Wednesday, accusing the journalist of attempting to harass him on air.
The confrontation occurred while Kalu was responding to questions about the economic policies of the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly the controversial printing of money, which critics have blamed for fueling inflation.
In defending the current administration, Kalu maintained that the previous government also made economic decisions that contributed to the country’s financial challenges.
“Mind you, the previous government front loaded some of the oil. Some crude oil were sold,” Kalu said.
He added, “I don’t even know who among them will do anything better than what is being done. They printed money and we questioned them.”
As Okinbaloye continued to press him for further clarification, the senator objected to the questioning, saying he felt he was being unfairly treated.

“You can’t call people here to harass them. You can’t harass me. This is no longer an interview,” Kalu said during the tense exchange.
The interview focused on the economic difficulties facing the country, including the impact of the previous administration’s monetary policies and the challenges inherited by the current government.
