The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is tired and should be allowed to retire, insisting that Nigeria needs energetic and compassionate leadership to tackle its mounting challenges.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on Sunday monitored by The News Chronicle, Obi criticised the Tinubu administration over the country’s economic hardship, insecurity and rising poverty, arguing that Nigerians deserve a government that prioritises the welfare of its citizens.
Obi maintained that he possesses the experience, competence and vision required to unite the country and restore economic stability if elected president in 2027.
The former Anambra State governor also reiterated his commitment to serving only a single four-year term if elected, saying one term would be enough to lay the foundation for national recovery and institutional reforms.
He further pledged to run an accountable government focused on production, job creation, security and improved living standards, stressing that leadership should be driven by compassion and integrity rather than personal ambition.
