Former Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele has backed Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise for a move to the Spanish giants, revealing he personally encouraged club president Florentino Perez to consider signing the France international.
Speaking ahead of the World Cup semi-finals, Makelele lauded Olise’s inventiveness, vision, and capacity to influence games as among the most fascinating offensive players in Europe.
The News Chronicle reports that Makelele apparently stated that Olise has a unique footballing skill set reminiscent of Lionel Messi. He thinks Michael Olise should be the only player to spend money on. He said the winger makes the game exciting and can create moments that shock both colleagues and supporters.
The ex-Chelsea star continued, Like Messi, when he is in form, you always feel he could do something startling.
Though he praised Makelele, he rejected any parallels between Olise and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, claiming that both players should create their own legacies.
Right now representing France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Olise is expected to be instrumental as Les Bleus pursue a berth in the final.
