Yobe Govt Suspends All NGO Activities in Primary and Secondary Schools Over Security Threat

The Yobe State Government has announced an immediate ban on all activities by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in primary and secondary schools across the state, citing security concerns over alleged attempts by undesirable elements to infiltrate schools.

The directive was contained in an official circular dated July 2, 2026, issued by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and addressed to all head teachers and principals across the state.

According to the circular, the decision followed intelligence reports indicating that suspicious individuals were planning to gain access to schools under the guise of NGO activities.

The ministry said the directive was issued on the instruction of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, ordering the immediate suspension of all NGO-related activities in public primary and secondary schools across Yobe State until further notice.

The circular directed all school heads to comply strictly with the order and ensure that no NGO is permitted to operate within school premises.

It also urged school administrators to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency for immediate action.

The circular was signed by Idriss Mohammed Fune, Director of Schools Management, on behalf of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.
