The Federal Government has inaugurated the 6,000MT/D Diamond New Energy Ltd lithium processing plant in Endo, Nasarawa State, describing it as a turning point for Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, said the investment shows growing confidence in Nasarawa’s mining potential.
“Nasarawa State continues to attract serious mining investments and I am very lucky to represent the president at this event,” Alake said.
He linked the project to the administration’s agenda to retain value locally. “What we are doing here is the testimony of the president of Mr President in this sector. For many years we have been exporting jobs and importing poverty,” the Minister stated.
The Diamond New Energy facility will process lithium on a large scale in-country, a move the government says will create jobs, boost foreign exchange earnings, and position Nigeria deeper in the global battery and electric vehicle supply chain.
