President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says creating jobs for young Nigerians remains a priority of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with 5,000 youths set to be trained as meter installers and technicians.
The President disclosed this in a post on his X handle, announcing the new training pathway under The Power Force.
“Jobs for our young people remain central to our Renewed Hope Agenda,” Tinubu stated.
According to him, the opportunity will be delivered through the Presidential Metering Initiative, PMI, which he established “to close Nigeria’s metering gap, end estimated billing, protect consumers, and strengthen the electricity market.”
The PMI is the Federal Government’s flagship programme aimed at bridging the metering deficit in the power sector, eliminating estimated billing, and improving transparency and revenue assurance for electricity distribution companies.
With the rollout of The Power Force, 5,000 young Nigerians will be equipped with technical skills to install and maintain meters nationwide, expanding employment while supporting power sector reforms.
