Osas Ighodaro Lands Bollywood Role in New Series “Imported Bahu” (VIDEO)

Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro is making her Bollywood debut in a new cross-cultural drama series titled Imported Bahu, produced by filmmaker Hamisha Daryani Ahuja.

Imported Bahu is set to premiere on July 2, 2026, on LebaraPlay, a telecoms-owned microdrama platform operating across Africa. The series pairs Osas with Bollywood actor Rajniesh Duggall in a story centered on love, family secrets, and a cross-cultural romance.

The title refers to an “imported bahu,” a Hindi term for a daughter-in-law brought into a family from outside the usual circle.

Hamisha Daryani Ahuja, who also produced Namaste Wahala and Postcards, announced the project on Instagram, describing it as her production company’s first vertical microdrama series.

“For months, we’ve been keeping a secret. Today, we’re finally sharing it,” Ahuja wrote, adding that the series follows “a story of love, family, secrets, and one Imported Bahu who turns everything upside down.”

Ahuja has built a reputation for projects that connect Nollywood and Bollywood audiences.

Nigerians reacted to the announcement with a mix of humor, curiosity, and encouragement on social media.

Several users compared the drama’s style to Zee World productions, which are popular on Nigerian television. One user, Betty Ogunmola, wrote that the announcement was “bringing back my childhood Zee World memories.”

Others questioned production details. A user suggested the trailer footage looked artificially generated, while another questioned why Osas’ “real voice” was not used in the clip, suggesting possible dubbing.

Despite the questions, reactions were largely supportive. One user wrote that the news was “good news for the nation at large,” calling it “another win for Osas.”

Osas Ighodaro is known in Nollywood for roles in film and television, including her early appearance on the TV series Tinsel, where she met her ex-husband, Gbenro Ajibade. The two share a daughter, Azariah, who turned 10 on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Imported Bahu is her first credited role in a Bollywood-linked production.
