NECO to Recruit 22,000 Supervisors as Council Cracks Down on Fake Recruitment Schemes

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has cautioned members of the public against fraudulent online recruitment portals claiming to offer appointments as examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, disclosed that scammers are operating fake websites where applicants are asked to submit their academic credentials and make payments before being considered for recruitment.

NECO stressed that it does not charge any fee for the recruitment of examination supervisors and warned prospective applicants to avoid dealing with unauthorized individuals or platforms.

The Council explained that, following recommendations by the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, it has replaced the traditional analogue recruitment process with a fully electronic system.

According to NECO, qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, are expected to apply directly through the Council’s official recruitment portal.

NECO emphasized that the recruitment process is entirely automated and does not involve any third party.

The examination body noted that the digital recruitment platform was introduced to curb fraud, improve examination supervision, reduce malpractice, and ensure transparency, fairness, and credibility in the selection process.

The Council further revealed that over 22,000 supervisors will be recruited for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026.

NECO urged the public to disregard unofficial recruitment portals and refrain from making payments to anyone claiming to facilitate the recruitment exercise.
