Worsening Insecurity: House of Reps Summon Ribadu and Service Chiefs

The House of Representatives has summoned the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the nation’s service chiefs to appear before lawmakers over worsening security challenges across the country.

The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Sulaiman Gumi during Tuesday’s plenary session.

Lawmakers expressed concern over the persistent attacks by bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers, particularly in the North-West and North-East regions.

They noted that insecurity continues to disrupt economic activities, displace communities, and threaten lives despite increased government spending on security.

The House directed the NSA and security chiefs to provide detailed briefings on ongoing operations and measures being taken to tackle the security crisis.

Lawmakers are also expected to discuss strategies to improve intelligence gathering, strengthen military operations, and enhance the protection of vulnerable communities.

The summons comes amid renewed attacks and kidnappings reported in states including Zamfara State, Katsina State, Sokoto State, Borno State, and parts of Nigeria’s North-Central region.
