Nollywood actress Blessing Onwukwe has described the death of fellow actor Alexx Ekubo as a painful and devastating loss to the Nigerian film industry, recalling him as a kind-hearted star who touched lives with his generosity and warmth.
In an exclusive interview with The News Chronicle’s Celebrity Connect, the actress emotionally reflected on her encounters with the late screen star, revealing how his kindness left a lasting impression on her both on and off movie sets.
Blessing recounted that the first time they worked together, Alexx had just returned to Nigeria from an overseas trip and headed straight to a movie location despite being visibly exhausted from jet lag.
According to her, while other colleagues tried to keep him awake during filming, she casually asked what he brought back from his trip, and he jokingly replied, “Chocolate.” To her surprise, the next day, the actor arrived on set with several chocolate bars specially for her.
She further revealed that during another production they worked on together, Alexx once gifted her perfumes without any prompting, a gesture she said reflected his naturally generous spirit.
“He is a sweet human being. He’s a beautiful soul,” she said emotionally.
Mourning his passing, Blessing said the late actor lived a fulfilled life and found peace with God before his death something she noted many people never get the opportunity to experience.
“It’s a win-win for Alexx. He lived a good life and made peace with God. He won,” she added.
