A major opposition coalition may be emerging ahead of the 2027 general elections following the signing of a strategic alliance between a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Allied Peoplesā Movement (APM).
The two parties on Thursday formalised their partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in what political observers describe as an early move to consolidate opposition strength ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Seyi Bamidele signed the agreement on behalf of the PDP faction, while Oladele Oyadeji represented the APM.
Governor Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, also endorsed the pact on behalf of both parties.
The development comes amid Governor Makindeās declaration of interest in the 2027 presidential election, a move that has intensified discussions around his growing national political profile.
