2027: Obi Has Pushed the Igbos 20 Years Backwards from Getting the Presidency- ADC Chieftain

Africa Democratic Congress, ADC Chieftain, Hon. Kasimu Maigari has launched a blistering attack on Peter Obi, accusing the former Labour Party presidential candidate of stalling the South-East’s long-standing presidential ambition.

Speaking in an interview on ARISE News monitored by The News Chronicle, Maigari argued that Obi’s political journey has set the Igbo presidency project back by decades rather than advancing it.

“My worry is not whether Peter Obi will win. My worry is that he has pushed the Igbo 20 years backwards from getting the presidency.” He said.

He dismissed Obi’s 2027 prospects outright, insisting the former Anambra governor stands no chance at the polls.

Maigari also took aim at Rabiu Kwankwaso, claiming both men are surrounded by opportunists driven by personal ambition rather than ideology.

According to him, many of their supporters are leveraging their popularity as a political springboard.

“The only people following Obi and Kwankwaso are those hoping to ride on their backs to win elections and then defect,” he alleged.

Maigari further claimed that a vast majority of Obi’s camp is eyeing lower offices, from state assemblies to governorship seats, using his influence as electoral capital.

Despite his criticism, the ADC chieftain expressed confidence in his party’s 2027 strategy, suggesting Obi’s presence on the ballot could inadvertently work in ADC’s favour by splitting votes in key strongholds of the ruling party.
