Mr Macaroni, Kunle Remi, Opeyemi Aiyeola, Other Celebrities React to Jos Attack

Nigerian celebrities are reacting to the killings in Jos following a deadly attack on Anguwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The incident, which left between 22 and 40 people dead and several others injured, has drawn criticisms, with figures including Mr Macaroni, Opeyemi Aiyeola, Kunle Remi, and Ice Prince among those who have spoken out.
Gunmen reportedly stormed the community on Sunday, March 29, 2026, opening fire on residents. Reports indicate that between 22 and 40 people were killed, with several others injured and taken to nearby hospitals. In response, the state government imposed a 48-hour curfew across Jos North.

Among the first public figures to react was actor and activist Mr Macaroni (Adebowale Adebayo), who criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not addressing the country hours after the incident.

“I cannot understand how 40 Nigerians have been confirmed dead in Jos and the President of the Country does not deem it necessary to address the people!” he wrote.

Rapper Ice Prince (Panshak Zamani), who is from Jos, shared a brief message on the long history of violence in the area.

“Since 2001, Jos, Jos, Jos. My people have suffered too much tbh… Thoughts and prayers,” he posted.

His statement drew criticism online, with some users accusing him of avoiding the mention of the current administration.

Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola called on her colleagues to speak more openly about the attack. In a video message, she urged entertainers to prioritise conscience over personal gain.

“My colleagues, everything shouldn’t be about money, influence and affluence. Let us allow our conscience to lead us and do the right thing,” she said. “You should think of your generation’s future.”

Actor Kunle Remi took a different approach, linking the tragedy to President Tinubu’s 74th birthday. In a video, he suggested that Nigerians should reflect the mood of the country in their messages.

“Instead of using cheerful images, use visuals that reflect the pain of those affected,” he said.

Meanwhile, actor Zubby Michael advised Christians in Jos to consider relocating for safety.

“Christians should leave Jos,” he wrote.

His comment was challenged by media personality Daddy Freeze, who questioned the idea of leaving ancestral homes.

“Why? It’s their homeland? Why should they run? It’s the government’s duty to protect them,” he said.

Insecurity concerns has notably impacted film production and tourism in the north. According to Kannywood actor Nura Mc Khan, these safety concerns have changed how films are produced.

“Because of the security challenges, most producers are now shooting stories that don’t require village settings,” he said. “Some filmmakers are no longer coming to the North.”

The attack in Jos adds to ongoing concerns about security in different parts of Nigeria.
