The Police Command in Abuja has apprehended four individuals accused of posing as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to swindle a military officer out of N150 million.

The development was disclosed in Abuja by Mr. Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the minister on Public Communications and Social Media.

According to Olayinka, one of the suspects, residing at No. 3 Martin Elegoma Street, Nigeria Army Post Housing Estate, Phase 1, Kurudu, was arrested on Tuesday.

He explained that the suspect allegedly defrauded a retired Major-General, A. K. Ibrahim, along with other victims, of more than N150 million under the guise of facilitating a land transaction in Guzape II Cadastral Zone, Abuja.

Olayinka revealed that the suspect deceived victims into believing he had close ties with the FCT Minister and officials within the land administration system.

The suspect reportedly collected over N150 million with promises to deliver land documents for Plot 1985, Guzape II, spanning three hectares, as well as other parcels of land.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly implicated two officials from the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) as accomplices.

He also identified another collaborator residing at No. 2 Chief Palace Road, Durumi II, Abuja.

“The four suspects are currently under investigation,” Olayinka said.
