Even Tinubu Knows He Has Failed— Baba-Ahmed

Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has delivered a scathing assessment of the current administration, declaring that Nigeria is worse off now than when Tinubu assumed office in 2023.

In an interview on Trust TV on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed said the deepening crisis spans both the economy and national security, insisting the president is aware he has fallen short of expectations.

“We are in deeper trouble than when you came,” he said bluntly. “Three years into this administration, the scale, pattern, and impact of violence have escalated beyond anything we anticipated.”

He lamented that despite campaign promises to end insecurity and improve living conditions, the situation on the ground tells a different story.

This is a president who pledged to make Nigeria safer and more prosperous,” Baba-Ahmed stated. “But the reality is far from those promises. Even the president himself would admit he has not delivered on them.”

The former aide also took aim at the optics of the administration’s recent foreign engagement, noting that Tinubu’s trip to the United Kingdom came on the heels of deadly attacks in the North-East.

“It was a festive outing, judging by reports,” he said. “Yet it happened just days after one of the most horrific attacks in Borno State, a stark contrast that underscores the gravity of the situation at home.”
