Chevron Reaffirms Support for Niger Delta Growth, Backs Escravos Warri Road Plan

Chevron Nigeria Limited has restated its commitment to supporting economic growth and infrastructure development in the Niger Delta as discussions continue around the proposed Escravos to Warri Road project.

During a recent trip by Chevron and officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission to the Delta State Government in Asaba, the business, which runs a joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, made this public.

Chevron’s Director and Chief Operating Officer for Nigeria and the Mid Africa Region, Segun Kuteyi, stated the corporation continues to be actively engaged in negotiations on the planned road project. He contends that better road connection between Escravos and Warri could open up fresh economic prospects and boost business activity throughout the area.

The News Chronicle understands that the project is expected to involve close cooperation between the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Delta State Government, host communities and private sector partners to ensure smooth execution.

Chevron also pointed to Nigeria’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme as a framework that could encourage private sector participation in large infrastructure projects.

Company officials added that the firm will continue working with government agencies and development partners to support long term investments that contribute to the growth of the oil and gas industry and the broader Nigerian economy.
