An unidentified group of criminals reportedly strangled a pregnant woman to death in Kaleri, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources told The News Chronicle in Maiduguri that the incident occurred on Sunday at the victim’s residence.
The deceased, identified as Fatima, was seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
Eyewitnesses reported that Fatima was found dead around 6:00 p.m., with a broken hand and a broken neck.
Another source claimed that the assailants poured a substance believed to be acid on her body before strangling her, causing visible swelling.
The victim’s husband, who was away on business in the Republic of Chad, has been informed and is expected to return to Maiduguri today ahead of her burial.
As of this report, security agencies and government officials have not released any official statement regarding the incident.
