The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the application deadline for the recruitment of 50,000 constables by two weeks.
The Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of PSC, Torty Kalu, announced on Tuesday that the recruitment portal, initially opened on December 15 and scheduled to close on January 26, will now remain open until February 8.
Mr. Kalu explained that the extension follows the receipt of over 400,000 applications and a review revealing significant disparities in state participation.
While states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high application numbers, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra had notably fewer submissions.
“The extension is to ensure equitable representation nationwide. All eligible Nigerians, particularly from the above-mentioned states, are strongly encouraged to apply via the official portal,
He also urged state and local governments, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilize eligible citizens to take advantage of the extension.
The PSC reaffirmed its commitment, alongside the NPF, to a fair and transparent recruitment process.
