Former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has said that the race between Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) hinges on the party’s primary elections.
Ahmad highlighted the contrasting strengths of the two contenders, noting Obi’s popularity among young voters and Atiku’s entrenched party structures.
In a post on X, he wrote: “The likelihood of Peter Obi prevailing over Atiku Abubakar in the ADC primaries largely hinges on the mode of the primaries. Obi commands significant support among young voters, while Atiku enjoys the backing of established structures and the party machinery.”
Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, recently joined the ADC and is expected to contest the party’s presidential ticket alongside Atiku.
