PSC, Police Begin Recruitment of 50,000 Constables, Portal Opens Dec 15

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have kicked off the recruitment of 50,000 police constables, following approval from President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement on Thursday, PSC spokesperson Torty Njoku Kalu announced that the recruitment portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on January 25, 2026.

Eligible Nigerians are expected to submit applications online within the six-week window.

The Commission assured that the nationwide exercise will be “transparent, merit-based and credible,” stressing that the process is entirely free and no payment is required at any stage.

According to the PSC, applicants for General Duty must possess GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent results with at least five credits—including English and Mathematics—obtained in no more than two sittings.

Specialist applicants must have a minimum of four credits (including English and Mathematics), plus at least three years of relevant experience and required Trade Test certifications.

All candidates must be Nigerian by birth, medically and physically fit, and fall within the age brackets of 18–25 for General Duty and 18–28 for Specialists.

Height requirements for General Duty are 1.67m for males and 1.64m for females.
