NDLEA Seizes 7.6 Million Tramadol Pills, 76,000kg of Cannabis in Nationwide Raids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has carried out a series of intelligence-driven operations across the country, leading to the recovery of over 7.6 million tramadol pills and 76,273.4 kilograms of different types of cannabis, including Colorado, Loud, and Skunk. Several members of drug trafficking networks have also been arrested.
A major breakthrough came on Saturday, 6 December 2025, when NDLEA operatives raided a warehouse at Oko Market in Asaba, Delta State, recovering 3.87 million tablets of tramadol (225mg and 100mg) along with 252.2 litres of codeine syrup.
Earlier, on Wednesday, 3 December, officers patrolling Orogwe along the Onitsha–Owerri Road in Imo State intercepted a vehicle transporting 1.2 million tramadol tablets. The driver, Kelechi Nwakocha, 35, confessed the drugs were loaded in Aba and headed for Onitsha.
In Adamawa State, NDLEA officers on Monday, 1 December 2025, intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus coming from Jos with 1,577,112 capsules of tramadol and Exol-5 hidden inside bags of new rubber sandals.
 Two suspects, Kabiru Buba, 25, and Hamza Abubakar, 32, were arrested. Another suspect, Mudansir Rabiu, 27, was arrested along the Zaria–Kano Road with 197,000 Exol-5 pills.
NDLEA’s special operations unit also stormed forests in Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, destroying 14,654kg of skunk and arresting two suspects. Another raid in Asin-Ekiti, Ikole LGA, led to the destruction of 54,300kg of skunk stored in two large warehouses, with 28.3kg kept as evidence.
Acting on intelligence, operatives also raided Igoba Forest in Akure North, Ondo State, where they recovered 5,442kg of packed skunk and arrested five suspects: Jacob Omodowo, 66, Joy Oluatobi Peace, 24, Babatunde Olamide, 40, Echi Fidelis Joseph, 57 and Ankrah Akano, 56
In Niger State, officers on patrol along the Mokwa–Jebba Road seized 500kg of skunk from a Mercedes Benz van and arrested the driver, Amos Yakubu, 46.
In the FCT, officers intercepted 22kg of Colorado (synthetic cannabis) along the Abaji Expressway. A follow-up operation at Jabi Park led to the arrest of Ali Blessing, 33. Another suspect, Aliyu Usman, 39, was arrested with 24kg of skunk and 573,500 Exol-5 pills along the Kwali–Gwagwalada Expressway.
In Lagos, NDLEA officers recovered 113kg of Canadian Loud from Ezenwa Udoka at Ladipo Market, arrested Izuchukwu Usulor with 351kg of skunk in Onipanu, and arrested Susan Okoro with 104.1kg of skunk at Trade Fair Complex.
In Edo State, operatives seized 447.5kg of skunk from two Honda Accord cars in Agho Forest and arrested Dada Adedara Babawibi, 56. Another raid at a warehouse in Ohuwunde LGA led to the seizure of 315.8kg of skunk and the arrest of Stanley Obasuwa.
Across the country, NDLEA commands continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) outreach programmes in schools, religious centres, workplaces and communities. Beneficiaries included: St. Michael’s Academy, Sabon Gari, Kano, Harry Pass Secondary School, Gboko LGA, Benue and Community Junior Secondary School, Okuru-Ama, Rivers State
NDLEA Chairman/CEO, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the officers for their impressive efforts in both drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction, noting that their dedication is well recognised and appreciated.
