LP Leadership Crisis: Anambra Guber Aspirant, Nwosu Says No Going Back on April 4, 2025 Supreme Court Ruling

A governorship aspirant of the Labour Party, LP, in the November 8 Gubernatorial Election in Anambra State, Mr John Nwosu, has described the April 5 Primary of the party in the state as a nullity that cannot stand.

Nwosu is insisting that the leadership of the party that conducted the primary has been sacked by a ruling of the Supreme Court on 4th April, 2025.

The ruling had sacked Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party. Still, the leadership had gone ahead and conducted the election, which produced Chief George Moghalu as its candidate.

Moghalu, after emerging victorious, said the leadership is a minor internal family crisis that will be resolved amicably soon.

But, Nwosu, who spoke at a function in Okija when asked him about the state of the Labour Party in Anambra State and his Candidacy, said the Supreme Court ruling of 4th April, 2025 was definitive.

Nwosu, who had resigned from the primary contest, citing irregularities, said they know who the leaders of LP are. It is now up to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to do the needful for the process to continue.

He maintained that the primary of 5th April is null and void and the primary of 10th April should be upheld, except that the issue of a place holder is extraneous to the established process.

“I am a firm believer in due process and the rule of law.

“So I remain in the race for the candidacy. In the fullness of time, there will be clarity and vindication,” he said.

Nwosu noted that he is in touch with the Sen. Nenadi Usman and her National Working Committee, NWC, and that his Appeal is before them, saying once the Easter holidays are over, they will make a pronouncement.

On his chances of securing the party’s ticket, Nwosu said the Electoral processes are clear and full of established precedents and that he is optimistic, noting that although he is a team player, he is ready to exhaust all remedies, including legal action, if push comes to shove.
