David Beckham Reveals Core Values His Parents Passed Down To Him

In a chat with reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, David Beckham discussed the “simple values” his parents instilled in him, which he passed on to his children.

The former soccer player made his debut appearance at the WEF to accept the Crystal Award for Philanthropy, which he received for his efforts to safeguard children in need while serving as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2005.

Bryer questioned Beckham about the principles his parents instilled in him and the source of his drive to change the world.

“I believe they taught me the proper values, which are the basic principles of treating everyone equally and with respect, and I tried to do the same with my kids,” Beckham remarked.

According to the 49-year-old father of four, Harper, his youngest, is thirteen, and Brooklyn, his oldest, is twenty-five.

“All of my guys are aware that they let a woman enter the room before them. When a woman exits the table, they get up, shake hands, and make eye contact. You are aware of all their ideals, their “pleases,” and “thank yous.”

“My children have all said “please” and “thank you” when they were two or three years old. So we’ve attempted to inculcate in our kids the basic values Victoria and I were raised with,” Beckham continued.

He claimed that his work with children worldwide has been influenced by his children. Beckham has made numerous trips to promote UNICEF’s work with children. He has traveled to the Philippines to meet with children impacted by Typhoon Haiyan, South Africa to meet families living with HIV and AIDS, and Cambodia to meet with children who had experienced abuse and violence.

“I’ve taken several of my children on various vacations. They are fully aware of the job I do for UNICEF. They all want to participate in my work with UNICEF. They all wish to support various charities in various ways.”

“When I return home from these trips, I keep showing them pictures, pictures, and pictures, and it just gives them a sense of what’s happening in the world, and I think that’s so important.”

Beckham also underlined in his statement at the awards ceremony that inequality, poverty, and violence “hold girls back.”

“All girls everywhere should have the same opportunities as their brothers, and that is what I want for my daughter Harper. Being a girl should not limit what you can accomplish, where you can travel, or who you can become,” he stated.

In his interview with Bryer, Beckham discussed some subjects, such as his renowned 20-year football career from 1992 to 2013, his role as president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF, and his opinions on social media.
