Kaduna CAN Calls for Calm Among Nigerians Amid Hunger Protests

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, has called on Nigerians to exercise restraint and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
Amid the ongoing hunger protests, the leadership has urged Christians in the state to remain steadfast and composed.
In a statement on Friday, Rev. Ma’aji Caleb, the chairman of the state CAN, emphasized the need for calm and peaceful conduct.
He stated, “Our nation has come to a standstill as a consequence of the ongoing hunger protest. This experience speaks volumes about our growth towards ideal nationhood.”
Rev. Caleb highlighted the clear stance of the CAN Kaduna State chapter, aligning with the national leaders’ position on the protests.
He expressed gratitude to the Christian communities in Kaduna for their exemplary behavior during the protests, saying, “We sincerely appreciate the Christian communities we are privileged to lead for the way and manner in which our faithful conducted themselves during the protest that took place.”
He noted that Christians adhered to the call to be civil and peaceful if they chose to participate in the protest.
However, he lamented the unfortunate incidents of violence in some states, which led to the loss of lives and properties. “In some states in the country, the protest became violent with recorded loss of lives. This is regrettable. Our hearts go out to the families of all those who were victims of this unfortunate incident and those who lost properties,” Rev. Caleb stated.
The CAN leadership’s call for restraint and peaceful conduct aims to prevent further violence and promote a harmonious resolution to the ongoing crisis.
