The Lagos State Government has tasked Online Reporters in the State to continue to eschew high levels of professionalism while abiding by the ethos of the journalism practice, adding that these are times that call for responsible and ethical reporting.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olamide Sogunle gave this admonition when he hosted the leadership of the Online Reporters Association of Nigeria (ORAN) at the Conference Room of the Ministry as part of efforts to discuss strategic collaboration and effective communication in the digital age.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olumide Sogunle, while welcoming  the ORAN delegation, acknowledged the vital role online media plays in shaping public opinion and disseminating information, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to supporting online reporters in promoting transparency and accountability in governance

The President of Online Reporters Association of Nigeria commended the State Government efforts, through the Ministry, in promoting press freedom and access to information, adding that the association will remain committed to responsible and ethical reporting.

The two parties’ discussions centred around enhancing the capacity of online reporters through training and addressing challenges in the field.

Both agreed to foster a collaborative relationship, leveraging new media to promote a more informed citizenry. The Ministry pledged support for training and capacity building.
