In a tragic incident in Yobe State, suspected terrorists killed a policeman, Sule Babur, at his residence in the Mairi community of Buni Yadi, located in Gujba Local Government Area.Â
The assailants not only took Babur’s life but also set his house on fire, causing shock and distress within the community, on Saturday.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Yobe State, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident.
He stated, “The perpetrators also set his house ablaze. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and an investigation is urgently needed to bring the culprits to justice.”
This tragic event unfolded just hours after another serious incident involving law enforcement. In Lagos State, the police authorities announced an investigation into the alleged killing of an inspector by naval officers in the Okokomaiko area of Ojo.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos command, the altercation began when police officers on patrol tried to impound motorcycles belonging to naval officers who were dressed in plain clothes and driving against traffic.
The naval officers resisted arrest and a physical confrontation ensued. During the scuffle, other naval officers arrived to support their colleagues.
Amid the chaos, a police officer collapsed and was later confirmed dead at a local hospital.
