The Kano state government has established a committee to investigate the widespread failure observed in the recent qualifying examinations for senior secondary schools in the state.
This information was conveyed by Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, in a statement released on Wednesday in Kano.
According to Mr. Kiru, the committee’s primary task is to determine the extent of the failures and identify the underlying causes.
Additionally, the committee will evaluate whether the established procedures for releasing examination results were properly followed.
“The committee will also assess whether there was compliance with the established procedure for releasing results,” he said. “It is also part of the committee’s responsibility to advise the government on the best ways to conduct future examinations.”
The committee is expected to submit its report within one week. Tajuddeen Gambo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, will chair the committee.
Other members include Kabiru Zakirai, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Senior Secondary School Management Board, and Baba Umar, the Executive Secretary of the Private and Voluntary Schools Board.
Additional members are Nura Ma’aji, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Matters, Rabi Hussain, the Director of the Kano Educational Resources Department (KERD), and Rabiu Mijinyawa, a former Director of KERD.
Hafsat Adhama, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Girl Child Education, will serve as the committee’s secretary.
