The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General AE Abubakar, emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies in combating criminal activities in Plateau State.
He made these remarks during a courtesy visit from the new Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, at the Headquarters of the 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos, on Wednesday May 22, 2024.
Major General Abubakar highlighted that the visions of the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TA Lagbaja, focus on the necessity of joint efforts, synergy, and intelligence sharing for national defense.
“Drawing from their philosophy, we must work together, leveraging each other’s strengths,” he stated.
He assured CP Adesina of his commitment to strengthening the existing relationship between the Military and the Police in Plateau, particularly in the swift prosecution of suspects.
The GOC called for seamless and prompt information sharing among security agencies to ensure quick responses to emerging threats.
Reiterating the Nigerian Army’s zero tolerance for misconduct among its personnel and other agencies, Major General Abubakar stressed that enhancing security is a collective effort.
He updated the CP on the Division’s joint kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, including stakeholder engagements, sensitization seminars, and sporting activities, aimed at consolidating the relative peace in the state.
CP Adesina, in his remarks, stated that the visit was essential for familiarizing himself with other security agencies and seeking stronger collaboration and partnership.
He noted that such cooperation is crucial for reducing crime and ensuring peace in Plateau.
The visit, he added, would further strengthen the mutual relationship, intelligence, and information sharing among security agencies.
The Police Chief praised the GOC/Commander OPSH for his achievements in restoring law and order in troubled areas of the State.
He urged Major General Abubakar to maintain and strengthen the current security measures to sustain the achieved peace.
