Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage recently shared how she faced heavy criticism for her “sexy” fashion style and “risky” lyrics early in her career.
In an interview with Kiss FM UK, Savage said she admires Ayra Starr, who is thriving in the global music scene despite similar criticisms from Nigerians about her dressing.
Savage expressed her admiration, saying, “I love Ayra Starr. I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing and genuine. It makes me emotional because when I started, I was criticized a lot for dressing too sexy and having risky lyrics.
“So, seeing Ayra now, if I see her wearing short skirts as critics say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’ She looks amazing and she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.”
