The Executive Secretary of the Borno Geographic Information Service, Engineer Adam Bukar Bababe, talked about making a rule about where to put soak pits outside homes.Â
He said this when he met with the Acting Controller of the Federal Fire Service in Borno State, ACF Asinamai Emmanuel Madu, and his team. They visited him to talk about working together and the problems the Fire Service faces in Borno.
Engineer Bababe stressed that the government is serious about making sure soak pits are built correctly near homes. This is to keep things clean and safe and to help emergency workers do their job well.
He said that even though they’ve been telling people not to build soak pits the wrong way, some people still do it. So, they need to start enforcing the law to make sure everyone follows the rules.
Engineer Adam Bababe also talked about what BOGIS is doing, like putting names on streets and numbers on houses.
This project was stopped for a long time, but now they’re doing it again and putting all the information into a computer system that updates in real-time.
The Acting Controller of the Federal Fire Service in Borno, ACF Asinamai Emmanuel Madu, praised Engineer Bababe for making land management better and using computers to update how things are done in Borno.
But he also talked about some problems they have, like not having enough places to get water for putting out fires and cables hanging too low, which gets in the way during emergencies.
He asked for BOGIS to help them with fixing illegally built soak pits so they can do their job better when there’s an emergency.
Engineer Adam Bukar Bababe said they will work with other groups to fix problems with water and electricity that get in the way during emergencies.
