Gaidam calls for reassessment of Police College curriculum

The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, spoke about the importance of updating the curriculum at Nigeria Police College during a meeting with the Nigeria Police Academy staff in Kano State. He said it’s crucial to keep the training aligned with the latest trends in law enforcement.

Gaidam emphasized the need for practical training to prepare cadets for real-life situations.

He encouraged the establishment of a mentorship program to guide cadets and instill values like leadership and integrity.

The Minister stressed the importance of ethical conduct and professionalism in law enforcement.

He urged providing cadets with opportunities to engage with the community and gain practical experience.

Regular evaluation and feedback on cadet performance are essential for improvement, according to Gaidam.

He also highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to addressing staff welfare issues at the Nigeria Police Academy.

The Commandant of the Police Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, expressed gratitude towards the government for their assistance, while also highlighting certain obstacles faced by the institution.

Among these challenges are a shortage of staff members and insufficient facilities. Despite these hurdles, AIG Abubakar remains optimistic about the academy’s ability to overcome them and continue its mission of training future law enforcement officers.
