Barcelona’s Frankie de Jong and Pedri to face lengthy spell through injury

Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Pedri face lengthy spells on the sidelines due to injuries sustained during their recent La Liga match against Atlético.

De Jong has a sprained ankle, while Pedri has a thigh injury. De Jong’s lateral ligament sprain in his right ankle means he’ll be out of action for an unspecified period, pending his recovery.

Similarly, Pedri’s injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh has ruled him out of selection until he recovers.

De Jong, who has featured in all 26 games for Barcelona this season, sustained his ankle injury after 26 minutes of play against Athletic Club.

Pedri was replaced by Lamine Yamal during the match, marking his 24th appearance of the season, during which he has scored twice, the same as De Jong.

The match ended in a goalless draw for Barcelona against Atlético.
