Following the free fall of the Nigerian Naira, Senator Ned Nwoko has called on his colleagues in the legislative arm to enforce the ban on the use of dollars in Nigeria in order to address the problem.Â
Nwoko who stated this while speaking during the Senate’s plenary held on Thursday, Â February 22, advised that doing so will help strengthen the Naira and arrest its free fall.
‘’I have lamented about the fundamental problem we have in Nigeria and that is the use of dual currency in Nigeria. There is no other economy that can survive with that. We must understand that we have relegated Naira to the background. Everybody is talking about Dollars, and the dollar is what is causing the problem”. He added.

The lawmaker who maintained that it might be a difficult thing to enforce but what has to be done is that the use of dollars in Nigeria has to stop, also stressed that once such is done, everything will begin to take shape.
