Tesla Owners Warned Against Using Apple’s VR Headset While Driving

—

Tesla owners wearing Apple’s newly released Vision Pro headset while driving have sparked concern, prompting US Secretary for Transport Pete Buttigieg to remind drivers of the necessity to remain engaged behind the wheel.
Despite warnings from both Apple and Tesla against such practices, videos depict users in autonomous mode with obstructed vision.
Some videos, including one showing a driver seemingly pulled over by the police, have been revealed as pranks, raising questions about the potential dangers of this emerging trend.
The $3,499 Apple headset’s US release on February 2nd has ignited discussions about responsible usage and potential safety risks.
In certain modes, visibility through the glass is possible, but it significantly limits sight during driving.
The company avoids labeling it as virtual reality or any similar term, preferring to term it “spatial computing.”
A blog post directed at developers advises against characterizing the app experience as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR), or mixed reality (MR).
