NDLEA apprehends three in Kano with 5,653,000 tramadol pills

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully intercepted over five million six hundred and fifty-three thousand (5,653,000) pills of tramadol 250mg and exol-5 in Kano State. 

Three suspects, Nura Abdullahi, 38, Tahir Muhammad Mukhtar, 42, and Yusuf Umar, 50, were apprehended in Bacharawa and Gadar Tamburawa areas of Kano, with 5,404,000 tramadol pills and 249,000 tablets of exol-5, respectively.

In Lagos, Ali Abubakar and Murtala Sani were arrested at Ojodu Berger with 110kg of cannabis sativa, and an additional 69kg was discovered in the hideout of a fleeing suspect in Akerele, Surulere.

In Abuja, NDLEA officers seized not less than 2,800 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup during a raid operation at Aleyita, FCT. The suspected owner, Jideofor Sochima, remains at large.

In Taraba state, 100,510 pills of opioids were confiscated from Ike Emmanuel, 35, in Dan-Anacha village.

In Abia state, Joseph Isiguzoro, 60, along with Emmanuel Eugene and Malachi Ndu, were arrested with 34,200 pills of opioids, and Isiguzoro was found with N2,885,045 in cash.

The War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaign continued nationwide, including sensitization lectures at institutions like Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom; Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos; Edusoko University, Bida, Niger state; and Community Secondary School, Bichi, Kano state.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the officers and units involved in the arrests and seizures across Tincan, MMIA, Abia, Taraba, Lagos, Kano, and FCT Commands.

He urged them to remain focused, collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, and continue the pursuit of the corporate goal to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.
