NAF airstrikes eliminate 12 terrorists in Borno State

—

The Nigerian Air Force disclosed on Sunday that Operation Hadin Kai, a combined air and ground effort, has been successfully eliminating remnants of terrorists in the Northeast region of Nigeria.

According to a statement by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, a notable achievement occurred on January 5, 2024, in the Parisu area near the Sambisa Forest.

The operation was initiated after observing terrorists moving suspicious items believed to be weapons and ammunition to the region.

Parisu, previously a terrorist stronghold, had been cleared by Nigerian troops in the past. However, renewed terrorist activity prompted a directive to strike the location.

The outcome of the strikes was significant, with a substantial fire erupting from two adjacent spots in the vicinity.

Surviving terrorists were witnessed fleeing for safety. A similar successful operation was conducted on January 6, 2024, about 1.5 km Southwest of Tumbun Agiri in the Lake Chad region.

Intelligence had indicated the continuous gathering of armed terrorists in vehicles and motorcycles, leading to the decision to target the location.

Precision strikes resulted in the destruction of vehicles, motorcycles, and the elimination of several terrorists.

Preceding these strikes, on January 2, 2024, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, during a reconnaissance mission, engaged and destroyed three canoes suspected of carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at Tumbun Alura.

Explosions were observed following the engagement. Additionally, successful strikes were carried out at Tumbun Buwari and Sabon Tumbun on terrorist structures within the Lake Chad region.

The coordinated efforts of the air and ground components of Operation Hadin Kai have been instrumental in neutralizing terrorists, destroying their logistics, and degrading their ability to launch attacks on both soft targets and Nigerian troops.
